The all new, redesigned Honda Pilot certainly has ‘Crazy Train’ by Ozzy stuck in our heads, but also includes a sleeker front-end design, enhanced interior features and improved fuel economy. These new features are receiving high ranks by critics and new owners. In fact, Cars.com has just named the 2012 Pilot as the ‘Family Car of the Year’. No longer must a mother of two be confined to a dull mini van with more stylish, roomy, family-friendly options like the Pilot.
The 2012 Pilot has already earned the top spot in the “USA Today, MotorWeek and Cars.com $37k and Under SUV Shootout,” with the editor-in-chief touting the Pilot as “the perfect SUV for buyers who want to comfortably haul the entire family and all of their gear.”
The Honda Odyssey was named Cars.com 2011 ‘Family Car of the Year’. Do you think the Odyssey is a little bitter? At least the award remains in the Honda family.
Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of product planning, American Honda Motor Co, released her comments about the award. “We’re delighted to see the eight-passenger Pilot’s versatility and family-friendly attributes recognized with this prestigious award. The newly refined and more fuel-efficient Pilot provides real value and surprising sophistication for anyone shopping in the segment.”
This is the fifth year Cars.com has been giving this award to automakers. In a time when competitors are working hard to make the minivan ‘cool’ again but also establish more of their SUV models family-friendly, the battle for title as top family gear is tough.
Congratulations to the 2012 Honda Pilot for this achievement. You too can own one by shopping at any of your D.C. area Honda dealers. SEARCH NOW (right hand side of page).
